Wide Open Possibilities

Christy Pharr Wilson ’67 champions financial aid at Bishop’s

When it comes to her Bishop’s education, Christy Pharr Wilson ’67 is quick to point out how the School shaped her life. She remembers enduring friendships, lively campus traditions, and finding her voice as a young woman in an era when Bishop’s was an ambitious school for girls.

Now Wilson is helping to make the Bishop’s experience available to students who need financial assistance with tuition. She believes in the power of Bishop’s to open a world of possibility to every graduate. Giving back in this way is just one example of the philanthropic and volunteer leadership Wilson has shown to Bishop’s over many years and to the communities of La Jolla and San Diego as well.

From 1997 to 2021, Wilson led the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation as president and CEO. In that capacity, she built and managed a vital institution that has granted more than $110 million to worthy projects over the past two decades. She has served The Bishop’s School in many capacities including the former Headmaster Advisory Committee (HMAC), the Alumni Association Board, and most recently as a member of the Board of Trustees from 2019 to 2025.
